About the United Way of St. Catharines & District

Mission:

To increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.

What We Do:
United Way has a proud history of being the largest, non-government funder of human care programs in Canada. This is and continues to be one of our major roles. In our expanded role as Community Builder, United Way's focus is on issues and actions needed to improve lives and creating lasting change. Through our ability to leverage dollars and partners, United Way took the lead in creating two After-School programs in 2008. Through free recreational and education programming, youth in stressed neighborhoods gained new skills, build relationships and develop a sense of self-worth while mitigating the effects of low income on their development.

The successes of the After-School program were so positive, in 2009, two additional after-school programs were launched, serving more at-risk youth and extending our reach to include rural communities in West Niagara. Today, more than 300 youth are growing and learning thanks to After-School programs.
