Overview:
Bethlehem Projects is the only transitional and rehabilitative program in the Niagara Region that provides an integrated approach of housing and support services for women, men and children in crisis and need.
Program Investment by United Way:
1. Family Violence Counselling
Time spent in the project’s support program helps victims overcome the debilitating effects of abuse and make positive changes for themselves and their children. By assisting people to develop the skills and stability necessary for independent living, the program reduces dependence on more costly social, legal and health care systems.
2. Community Support Program
Focuses on the provision of support services to adults and children residing in its Community Support homes, including individual counselling, practical assistance and parenting support. As well, resource information is provided to former residents in areas such as parenting, mental health and housing to help prevent crises that could lead to personal and family breakdown.
Testimonial:
“I was 34 years old when my two children and I were referred to the Bethlehem Housing Projects of Niagara. After fleeing an abusive marriage, my children and I were in desperate need of a safe and supportive place to live. We needed a place where we could feel protected and safe, while putting our lives back together.
