Program Investment by United Way:
1. Volunteer Training
Effective training is an important part in providing a safe and educational environment for youth. This training focuses on assisting volunteers acquire the skills to successfully plan and implement programs that are exciting, safe, and meaningful for youth members. By ensuring the people who provide and administer the program are the best and most skilled, Scouts Canada works towards their goal of developing community minded young people.
2. Carmichael House
Headquarters for Scouts Canada in St. Catharines and Thorold, Carmichael House acts as an information source for parents, coordinates training, provides support for groups and leaders, and houses the Scout shop. Carmichael House gives Scouts Canada a presence in the community.
3. Camp Wetaskiwin
Regardless of race, religion, or financial resources, Camp Wetaskiwin allows youth to develop as independent, resourceful individuals. In this outdoor environment, youth are taught the basics of good citizenship, fair play, honesty, trustworthiness, and respect for others. The camp is also available to community organizations and educational institutions that are non-profit and have limited resources. |
