Overview:
Operates a drop-in centre for high risk and street youth. Provides a safe place for youth where they can access counselling, a hot meal, food cupboard, laundry services, clothing, computer and friends.
Program Investment by United Way:
1. Outreach and Youth Reconnect
RAFT is currently the only youth-specific shelter in Niagara. Many youth have difficulty trusting more traditional and formal counselling services and are more responsive to the environment RAFT provides. Youth are taught to better resolve their conflicts and find positive solutions to their problems, enabling them to make valuable contributions to the community.
2. Steps to Independent Living
This program ensures that youth have the necessary support and guidance to facilitate their move towards independent living and self sufficiency. Services include crisis counselling, employment and job readiness and life skills training.
