Overview:

Women’s Resource Centre is committed to making a difference in the lives of women, youth and children living in West Niagara. This agency focuses on life improvement though the prevention of violence, intervention and long-term support. Programs are offered in three areas: Women’s Programs, Youth/Girl-Child Programming, and Children’s Projects.

Program Investment by United Way:
1. Power 4 Girls
Provides a community-based violence prevention program for female girls ages 9-12. Participants gain friendships, critical thinking skills, self-esteem and the tools needed to make positive choices as they move into adolescence. Power 4 Girls educates girls on violence against women, promotes self-esteem and encourages girls to develop assertiveness and boundary setting skills.
 
2. Just Girls
Provides community-based violence prevention programs for female youth age’s 14-16. The program visits high schools within West Niagara and offers
educational sessions allowing for both intervention where issues exist, and prevention of further difficulties. Through participation, Just Girls participants acquire the necessary tools for success in adolescence and adulthood.
