||This year, when you donate to United Way for the first time at the leadership level ($1,000 or more) or increase your current leadership donation by more than 10%, The Verge Insurance Group Leadership Challenge will provide up to $60,000 in matching funds to United Way. Your donation will make an even bigger impact in our community with the matching funds made possible by the generosity
and commitment of The Verge Insurance Group.
How it Works:
New Leadership Donors:
If you are making a first-time donation of $1,000 or more to United Way, The Verge Insurance Group Leadership Challenge will match your gift, dollar for dollar.
Renewing Leadership Donors:
If you are increasing the amount of your leadership gift by more than 10%, The Verge Insurance Group Leadership Challenge will match the increase in your donation.

There are special leaders throughout our community who through their example consistently challenge us to strive to achieve greater heights. United Way Leadership Challenge Grant donors in the past have included:
2012: Milan & Julieann Plentai
2010: The Burgoyne Family, in Memory of Dorothy Doolittle
2009: George Darte Funeral Chapel Inc.
2008: Gales Gas Bars Limited
2007: The Niagara Partners of Deloitte
2006: The Port Dalhousie Pier Marina
We salute the leadership of these special individuals who made these gifts possible.
*The Verge Insurance Group Leadership Challenge matches gifts to United Way. The matching dollars will support United Way of St. Catharines & District’s community fund. Designations to specific charities, through United Way, do not qualify for the matching grants. It takes an entire community working together to create positive change, and we know that the issues facing our
community cannot be managed by one organization alone. That’s why Scott and I are so proud to be avid supporters
of the United Way. We know that our contributions to this organization go further and cover more community issues
than we could ever address on our own. As Leadership Co-Chairs for the 2013 United Way Campaign, we are excited
to be a part of a network of Leadership donors that are helping to bring change to the neighbourhoods we live in.
United Way is actively working every day to target some of the most complex issues that face our community in three
focus areas; Moving from Poverty to Possibility, All That Kids Can Be and Empowering People and Communities. They
also address existing gaps by collaborating with community partners, serving youth living in stressed neighbourhoods
with free After-School programs and distributing kitchen kits to people transitioning from shelters to permanent
Last year, Leadership Giving represented 30% of the funds raised by United Way. We urge you to join us as Leaders
of the Way with a gift of $1,000 or more so we can continue to support these vital programs in our community.
Together, we can make a difference in our community and help create change for those that need it most.
Leaders come from every walk of life and from every corner of our community. They inspire us with their commitment and their desire to make a difference. Donors who give $1,000 or more annually become part of United Way’s Leadership Giving program.
