From Poverty to Possibility
One of our most basic needs in life is housing. Feeling safe and secure and having a place to lay your head at night is vital. For Carole, and many people like her, the stress of being on the brink of homelessness can be unbearable.
Carole had been living with a friend until she was forced to leave due to medical reasons that could not be accommodated. She was scared and did not know where to go. Luckily, she found assistance through the YWCA as she was accepted into their Transitional Supportive Housing program.
Carole shared with us that her case worker, and all of the staff at the YWCA, have been compassionate and added that “the support I have received has helped me in more ways than I can count.”
Through this program, Carole was able to find a place to live. She also received help from YWCA staff to navigate through government and social services.
Carole is more independent now and she is in the process of locating a new place to call her own.
