| Core Counselling Program, Family Counselling Centre
I would simply like to express how grateful I am for the kind of counseling services I found available at FCC. Recently, unfortunate circumstances have caused me to lose employment which created great financial stress in my life. Like many people, this led to severe depression and anxiety. I sought out counseling, but because of my new financial situation there wasn't anything I could afford.
Then I found FCC. My counselor was kind, understanding and extremely professional. Over the course of 5 months she helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. If it had not been for the more than reasonable fee of $30 per counseling session I honestly do not know what I would have done.
Thank you so much for making these affordable counseling services available. I honestly believe it saved my life and I'm sure it could do the same for many others. – Author Unknown
Victim Crisis Support Service, Niagara Victim Crisis Support Services
"Victim Services has been the most rewarding and educational volunteer work that I have ever done. The experiences and situations offered to me have changed who I am forever. The volunteers with whom I have served are without a doubt the most capable, compassionate and “real” people in the world! The leadership: team leaders, supervisors and administrative staff make the volunteer experience what it is. They have always been there with support and encouragement, genuinely interested in me and my life.” – Sue
Big Brothers & Big Sisters Mentoring Program, Big Brothers & Big Sisters Association
Thanks to Big Sisters I have been given a mentor, a forever friend and a handful of life long lessons. I met my Big Sister in 1982. I was a timid but hyper little girl being raised in a single parent home. When I met my big sister, Susan I immediately felt afraid. I was afraid of spending time with a stranger. I don’t know exactlyhow long it took to warm up to her but I know it wasn’t long before I captured her heart and she captured mine. She took me places and taught me things I never would have experienced. For example, she taught me to sew and to gave me manicures. I bit my nails for 20 years and I still can’t sew but I will never forget the memories that come from those moments.
Four years ago Susan was able to watch me get married. It was wonderful knowing she was there. Today, twice a week, I sit outside her office because she recently asked me to assist her at work. Now we spend more time together than ever before. I am so thankful that I was matched with Susan. If you were to ask her, she would say that I was not what she was looking for, now I am everything she always wanted. She changed me.. and I changed her.
Signed,
A Little Sister of 22 years.
