Participants in the Union Counselling Program learn about programs such as credit counselling and supports for people with addictions October 2006.

The Union Counselling Training Program allows workers to act as a resource to co-workers who need assistance or information on community health and social service programs. The Union Counselling Training Program is a Canadian Labour Congress Educational Program delivered in partnership with area Labour Councils and United Way. The program was first implemented in 1973 to address issues arising out of the collective agreement and has since grown, taking on a broader approach.
The Union Counselling program trains workers to act as peer counsellors in their workplace. Training focuses on a range of topics that help participants better understand issues affecting individuals and families and provides community resources that can help them.
Program graduates return to their workplaces with a greater understanding of community programs and services and become a vital link between their co-workers, families and the human and social service sectors of Niagara.
Level One is an eight week program, one evening per week, dealing with different subject matter each week; including” Dealing with Stress” and “Communication & Listening Skills”:
